Stephan Kessen studied law in Bayreuth, Bonn and Freiburg. After passing his first state law exam in 2006, he completed a clerkship in Düsseldorf with a practical stage in Dublin, Ireland. After passing his second state law exam in 2008, he did his doctorate at the University of Bayreuth in the field of commercial law in 2010. Also, in 2010 he received an LL.M. degree from Victoria University in Wellington, New Zealand. He was admitted to the bar in 2011.
